One of Georgia's Best gets UF Offer

At 6-6, 230-pounds, 2011 Valdosta High School star Jay Rome is one of the most sought after players from the class of 2011 and names a leader.

"My coach called me into his office yesterday," Jay Rome said. "He just got off the phone with head coach Urban Meyer from Florida and coach Brian White. He told me we were supposed to call them back so we did. I talked to coach White first and he was telling me how they did research on me and they wanted me to be a Gator. Knowing they just won two BCS Titles and how great they are this offer means a lot to me. Then I talked to coach Meyer and he was real cool and joking with me and stuff he seems real down to earth. He told me he saw my film and wants me to come score touchdowns in The Swamp. I was excited about what he was saying and thinking about players that they have like Tim Tebow."

Rome visited Florida during spring practice last year with current Georgia Bulldog Mike Gilliard.

"I went down with Mike last spring to watch some of practice and they were very impressive looking to me. The intensity, atmosphere and energy was real high and Gainesville is real intense."

Even though Rome and Gilliard are very tight it's not Georgia that is out in front at this time.

"I eat with Mike everyday and he tells me about Georgia all the time but Clemson is my No. 1 team right now they are my leader. I just got back from Clemson last Wednesday and have been to Clemson a bunch. My dad played football and basketball for Clemson in the late 70's. Right now, I am laying back and weighing all of my options and I might make my decision late in my junior season or early in my senior season."
