UF Implements Fan Text Messaging System

The University of Florida joins with In Stadium Solutions (ISS) to announce the implementation of a text-message based communication system at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for 2009 football games, beginning with the Orange & Blue Debut Spring Game to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18.

The text messaging system allows fans to communicate directly with the stadium's command post if assistance is needed in dealing with any special needs inside the stadium.

"We are excited to utilize this innovative technology to enhance the fan experience at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium," said Chip Howard, Associate Athletic Director for Operations. "The implementation of this text messaging system allows us to increase our efficiency in responding to our fans' concerns, which will both improve our security and boost the overall experience of attending Florida football games."

The system is currently used by venues in several major sporting leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB and NASCAR.

The ISS system has also been employed at some of the nation's recent premier sporting events, such as the 2009 BCS Championship Game, Super Bowl XLIII and the World Baseball Classic.
