Talented DT Checking out the Gators

The nation's No. 5 ranked defensive tackle according to Scout.com says he wants to learn more about the defending national champion Florida Gators. From Philadelphia (PA) Washington George High School, Sharrif Floyd is an imposing force on both sides of the line a scrimmage.

At 6-3.5 and 303-pounds with more than a 400-pound bench press and 500-pound squat, teams are lining up to gain his interest.

"Last season I only played two games of defense and had seven tackles all of them were behind the line of scrimmage and I blocked one punt and one pass," Sharrif Floyd said. "Most teams are recruiting me to play either defensive tackle or tight end but I want to play defense in college. I know nothing about the Gators but plan on learning a lot and the main thing that I will look for will to be if I feel at home."

Floyd will try and get to Florida for a visit over the summer with a few of his coaches. Right now it appears that he will make his announcement during the Army All-American Game in San Antonio.

"I don't think that there is anything a coach can ask me to do that I can't get done once I am on the football field. I would love the chance to play early but I wouldn't want anything handed to me. If I earn it I would feel like I didn't take the easy way out."
