Big Time Prospects out for UF's Spring Game

More than 200 prospects were on hand for Florida's Orange and Blue Game, including some of the nation's best. Both members of Florida's incoming class and members of the 2010 class that have already committed were in attendance. Here are some of Jason Higdon's impressions of the day.

There are in upwards of 200-plus recruits at today's Orange and Blue Game. I had a chance to meet a lot of players today that I have been talking to since last summer.

First off, I met just about every 2009 recruit minus Josh Evans. I had a chance to speak with Andre Debose and he looks real good. First time I have seen him in person but looks every bit 6-1 in my opinion and a tad lean. He is real excited about being here today and watching his future teammates.

Also, I ran into both Gary Brown and Xavier Nixon. Both weighed in at 292 pounds. They carry the weight differently obviously with Nixon being much taller than Brown but both are physically impressive in their own ways.

I spent a good amount of time with Michael McFarland and he is every bit 6-6 and 235 pounds and looks like he could easily carry another 30 pounds on his frame. I believe he is rock solid to Florida. Kedric Johnson will need a year in the weight room as he is rail thin but has a motor that never stops once he engages. Jon Halapio looks great and has that perfect build for the guard position.

I ran into Pee Wee Cobb as well, Dee Finley's cousin and he is a good looking cornerback prospect. I spent a long time with Kenbrell Thompkins and about eight of his family members including two of his brothers. I don't believe that his commitment will happen today, not saying that it won't in the future but not today. He's a great kid to speak with though and wants this badly. Marcus Shaw is much smaller than I thought he would be but another very high character kid as well. One player that is small in height but is physically impressive is Nickell Robey. He like the rest is real excited about being at Florida for today's game.

Mack Brown made it to UF a little after 11:00 a.m. and I was able to catch up with him for about 15 minutes. He is very impressive looking and once again a very high character kid. Today will go a long way in determining whether or not he is in this class and I believe he will be in the class. The tone in his voice when talking about being here today and the things he was telling me was very encouraging to say the least.

Two other big time prospects that made it in today are Chaz Green and Christian Green. Both players were at Tennessee together, and while they were impressed with the facilities, I don't think based off the way they were talking it measures up to what they have seen at Florida and what they will see today. Jordan Haden is another physically impressive looking player as I spent a good amount of time with he, his father and mother at yesterday's practice. Things look very good for the younger Haden at this time.

I spoke with Leon Orr for a long time and he is one of bigger more athletic players in attendance. Great young man, very high character and might be happier than anyone to be a Gator. Orr was meeting up with Ian Silberman who was running late as the two have struck up a strong friendship with each other.

Trey Burton looks great. He was with his younger but bigger brother Clay Burton who is getting looked at by the Gators.

James Louis told me during the game that he loves this place and it's very impressive looking.

It sounds like a broken record but each and everyone of the players that I spoke with today are incredibly high character kids. I spoke with both Jaylen Watkins and Jonathan Dowling and they are serious about coming to Florida and taking someone's job away, both great young men.
