Marcus Shaw gets Another Gator Visit

New offensive coordinator Steve Addazio recently paid a visit to check in on running back Marcus Shaw. At 5-9 and 180-pounds from Arcadia (FL) Desoto County, Shaw rushed for more than 2,500 yards and 35 touchdowns last year. With numbers like that it's no wonder four teams have been to see him with plenty more on the way.

"So far the ones that I know about are Wake Forest, Florida, Pittsburgh and Northern Illinois," Marcus Shaw said.

Desoto County went full pads Wednesday and that's something that Shaw has been waiting for.

"Things have been going great so far with the team. Today was the first day we went full pads and that was real exciting. Playing both sides of the ball keeps things interesting because I start out doing all the linebacker drills then running back drills. After that we do some skeleton stuff then today we had a scrimmage. I was on scout team offense so I could go against the first team defense and I was still able to score a couple of times so that was great. I play outside linebacker as well but my coaches know that I want to focus on playing running back as much as possible."

Shaw loves talking Florida football especially with running back coach Kenny Carter.

"I have a real good relationship with Coach Carter and I am going to try and give him a call tonight so we can talk."

My Take:
With all the talk about running backs from Corey Grant, Jakhari Gore, Ken Malcome, Storm Johnson, Roy Finch and many more Shaw is a player that I would keep a close eye on as things move forward. Iowa State is very close to offering and before it's all over with I am sure he gets plenty more offers. There has been talk about him changing schools but I am not sure that it will happen at this time. He is a great player and represents that one percent of the one percent that coach Meyer likes to have on his team so remember the name Marcus Shaw.
