Gators Showing Green lots of Attention

Tampa (FL) Catholic has been well visited this spring with two of the nation's top players, Chaz Green and Christian Green. Christian is one of the top 10 players overall in the state of Florida and is 6-2 and 200-pounds. Playing quarterback now, it's at wide receiver that has college coaches all vying for his services.

Electric and elusive, Christian Green is a threat to take it to the house every time he gets in the open field.

"Everything is going real good right now for our team," Green said. "First day of pads was yesterday (May 5th) and we were going real hard out there all day. The team is looking real good. We have a lot of new guys on defense this year so we are trying to get them up to speed with the rest of the guys."

Even though wide receiver is probably the position he plays at the next level, right now he only wants to help his team win and that means playing quarterback.

"I work on playing wide receiver in the off-season but right now it's all about playing quarterback for my team and trying to help them win. Right now I need to play quarterback. We also run the spread just like Florida so we throw it around a lot and we have a some young guys playing wide receiver but everyone is working hard improving every day."

Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Central Florida have been to Tampa Catholic and another SEC team will stop by on Saturday, Georgia.

"It was great to see Dan (McCarney) watch us practice. My entire team was real excited to look over and see that Florida was there watching us. I mean they are the national champs."

The three teams recruiting Green the most right now are Florida, Florida State and Georgia. He is in the process of trying to narrow his list of favorites down and don't expect a decision anytime soon. One team that is in the mix is another in state school, South Florida.

"On Sunday my family and I took a visit to see South Florida," Green said. "It is a great school and up and coming program. The entire staff cares about the players over there and I have know them since I was a little kid since my dad worked over there. It is close to home and is definitely on my list of schools I want to go to."
