Gator Softball Advance to Super Regional

Stacey Nelson tossed a three-hit shutout and Kelsey Bruder led the Florida offense with five RBI as the Gators defeated Lehigh 9-0 to win the NCAA Regional in Gainesville. Florida advances to the Super Regional round of the tournament where the Gators will host California for the second year in a row. The Super Regional is best two-of-three with the winner advancing to the College World Series.

After the teams matched zeros in the first three innings the Gators got on the road with two in the fourth. Francesco Enea doubled home Kristina Hilberth who had also doubled. Bruder singled in Enea and Nelson had all the runs she would need.

But the Gators weren't ready to stop scoring. Bruder singled home two more runs in the sixth inning and Corrie Brooks followed with her 11th HR of the season and Gators were up 6-0. Florida scored three more times in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Aja Paculba and a two-run double by Bruder.

The Gators improve to 58-3 with the win, while Nelson earned her 37th victory in the circle.

Nelson is now 132-34 in her Gator career and the shutout was her 19th of the season and 57th career.

Brooks' HR was the team's 80th home run of the season establishing a new SEC record.

Bruder drove in eight runs on the weekend, giving her 66 RBI for the season, two more than the school record set by Enea last season. It's not a new record, however since Enea drove in four runs in the three games giving her 69 RBI on the year.

Paculba scored five times in the Regional giving her a school record 66 runs scored on the year.
