My Take: Chris Dunkley

At 5-10 and 170-pounds with 4.4-speed, Chris Dunkley is one of the region's best wide receiver prospects. Dunkley who made the switch to Pahokee is one of the most talked about prospects among Gator fans. He has incredible speed, wiggle and has a way for getting into open space and making something happen with the ball in his hands.

Message boards have been filled with speculation from the Gators, Seminoles, Crimson Tide, Bulldogs and many more. Chris Dunkley finished his junior season with 40 catches for just less than 600 yards and six touchdowns.

He maintains that he wants to enroll early meaning taking this process to National Signing Day is out of the question. Dunkley is a player that enjoys the attention and everything that goes a long with the recruiting process. I don't expect to him to make a decision anytime soon with regards to the public. I do however expect that the according staff will know his intentions in the very near future.

Many Gator fans feel good about the relationship between freshman linebacker Jon Bostic and Chris Dunkley. Not only are those two very close friends but their respective families are close as well. Many Seminole fans feel good about the potential Pahokee prospects that may end up in Tallahassee, DeJoshua Johnson being one of them. On the surface it may appear that he is wide open among a few teams, but underneath I believe Dunkley will follow his close friend Bostic to Gainesville.

After Dunkley watched Florida practice he realized that there is plenty of room for he and Andre Debose on the field at the same time. He is not the kind of player that will be scared off by any incoming freshmen wide receivers, so I don't foresee that being an issue moving forward.

Based on a number of factors (proximity being one) I don't believe Florida will be in the position to wait on any other wide receiver prospects other than Chris Dunkley. Meaning the Gators could possibly wait on Dunkley as long as it takes even if his intention to enroll early doesn't work out.

Other News of the Day:
I do not want to name names at this time but there has been speculation that another wide receiver prospect that has said that the Gators are one of his top teams and a decision could happen at any time. This player has no shot whatsoever of being in the Florida class for 2010. When I feel all loose ends are tied up regarding this matter, I will fill you in on what went wrong. I found out early last week but there are a lot of moving parts to this situation and I wanted to make sure this indeed was the case before I hinted at the news and player in question.
