Gunsby Headed to Gainesville

The Florida Gators were the first team to offer quarterback Marcus Smith from Columbus (GA) and are now the first team to offer another signal caller from the Peach State. At 6-4 and 225-pounds, Jamius Gunsby talked about his offer from the defending national champs. From LaGrange (GA), He is another freakish type athlete that the Gators desire. He is able to hurt you with both his legs and arm.

"To me the offer from Florida was huge," Jamius Gunsby said. "I mean they are the national champs so when you get an offer from a team like that it tells you that you are one of the best players around. Coach Bryan White came to my school to watch me work but because of bad weather he didn't get to see me throw so he came back up to my school to watch. I didn't think that I performed that well but he liked what he saw from me and then the offer came a few days later. He likes my size and loves the way I throw the ball."

Gunsby talked about what makes him dangerous.

"When I am playing I try to see the entire field of play. At times I like to run first I guess you could say because sometimes I might have a receiver wide open but I will take off and run but I do love to pass it as well."

Gunsby is one of the few high school players that hasn't had a chance to watch the Gators on TV.

"I haven't seen them play to be honest with you not because I don't want to watch them but I don't watch college football. I don't even watch TV at all to tell you the truth."

Sunday, Gunsby will head to Gainesville for the first time with teammate Joseph Mansour and his father.

"I am going down this weekend to work out for the coaches at the camp. I really want to meet all the coaches and get to know them and I want them to get to know me a little bit better. I have talked to Coach Meyer a few times on the phone and he was telling me that he really wants me to come down so he can meet me in person and watch me perform. I am looking for great teammates to be around, a coaching staff that makes me feel at home, great campus and great academics."

Currently, Gunsby has offers from Florida and Troy but is getting a lot of attention from the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Clemson and Auburn. He will also stay very busy over the summer with camps. In addition to camping at Florida, Gunsby will spend time at LSU, Georgia, Kentucky and Florida State.
