Four-Star Linebacker to Camp at Florida

Orange Park (FL) standout linebacker Demetre Baker could be one of the fastest rising prospects in the state of Florida from the class of 2010. Already ranked as the nation's No. 16 ranked outside backer according to Scout.som, Baker could continue to rise in the rankings.

A 6-0 and 200-pounds with 4.45-speed and an incredible amount of athletic ability, Demetre Baker is coming off an impressive junior season with 80 tackles, 18 for a loss, four sacks, six forced fumbles and 700 yards rushing. He is also the two-time state champ in the shot put and the two-time runner up in the discus. He also has a 40 1/2 inch vertical leap.

"Right now I have offers from Miami, Michigan State, West Virginia and when I leave Florida on Monday I plan to have an offer from them," Baker said. "I will be at Florida first thing Monday morning with a bunch of my cousins, friends and my mother. I am real excited about this opportunity and want to be around new players and see what Florida is like. This is a big deal for me and my family so we plan to ask a bunch of questions."

Quarterback Coach Scott Loeffler was in attendance to watch Baker work over the spring.

"Coach Loeffler came and watched me during the spring and told me he loved what he saw out of me," he said. "He was real excited about me and what I can do and I will show everyone else Monday."

Loeffler is the second Florida coach that Baker has spoken with at this time including the head Gator himself.

"I talked to Coach Meyer and he was telling me that he watched my film and really wants me to come down and workout for him in person and help Florida win titles."

Baker is another great athlete from the Sunshine State that can play a number of different positions, but for Baker his mind is set on one in particular.

"I play a little bit of everything so I haven't been able to focus on one position that I can be great at and I think that position is outside linebacker. The one position that I will buckle down on for college is linebacker. If I had to pick another position after that it would be running back. A lot of D-1 schools, like Duke, South Carolina and Purdue, want me to play both ways in college."
