Riggs to Visit UF on Wednesday

Cody Riggs and the Florida Gators have a lot in common. They are both defending a national title in 2009. At 5-9.5 and 165-pounds with a 4.38 40 from Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas, Riggs is one of many top level college prospects on the nation's top team. Brandon Linder, Vinnie Mauro, Gio Bernard, Lamarcus Joyner and others make up one of the most dominating teams in recent memory.

Cody Riggs is coming off a busy track schedule that did not allow him to take any visits, but that is all about to change with his first trip scheduled for the Florida Gators on Wednesday.

"I am going to visit Florida on Wednesday and go straight from there to Georgia," Riggs said. "I am very excited to see Florida. I have been there a few times before over the years with track and was there for last year's Friday Night Lights. I am expecting to see the campus lifestyle and how comfortable I am with the staff. The things that I am looking for is coaching staff and my comfort level with them, academics, campus lifestyle and how they put players in the National Football League."

"I am looking forward to getting time with Coach Vance Bedford and talking to him about his style. I play the ball when it's in the air and I love to attack it and go up and get it. I have great hips and make-up speed so I try to bait the quarterbacks as much as I can to jump routes. At this level, it is easy for me to do, but it won't be so easy at the next level. I love to support the run but with how good our defense plays I don't need to often. I do want to get bigger and stronger before I get to college."

Even though he wasn't able to participate all of spring, Riggs was able to get much needed work in with the team.

"Our spring went great," he said. "I was finishing up my track season so I missed the first week or so but when I came out I didn't miss a beat. Lamarcus Joyner was playing wide receiver so I was locked up with him going one on one every time out. The defense looks great right now. We still need to work a bit on offense but defensively we look real good It's great to win three in a row and that's what we are shooting for. We have some guys that like Lamarcus that haven't won a state title before so we want to win one for him and the rest of the new guys."

Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina and Florida State have all offered.
