Pahokee Standout Playing it Cool

Chris Dunkley is a 5-11, 175-pound burner with 4.4 speed. A transfer to powerhouse Pahokee High School, Dunkley is currently ranked the No. 14 wideout in the nation and four-stars by Scout.com. He won't be making many, if any, trips over the summer but was able to make it to Athens recently.

"Georgia was alright I guess but nothing really that serious," Chris Dunkley said.

One of the top wide receiver prospects in the state of Florida, Dunkley finished his junior season with 40 catches for 595 yards and six touchdowns. The main reason that Dunkley won't trip over the summer is because he has a goal in mind that will require all of his attention moving forward.

"I plan to graduate early, so all I am going to think about over the summer is my grades," he said. "I am not thinking about any camps right now."

A true testament to his statement, numerous Pahokee teammates are en route to camp at Tennessee while Dunkley stayed behind.

"We were going to practice this week but a bunch of our team is headed up to Tennessee for camp over the next few days, so we won't be able to practice this week."

Dunkley has offers from seemingly everyone in the country, including the National Champion Florida Gators.

"I talked to Coach Meyer and Coach Gonzales yesterday. They were telling me how camp was going and stuff like that. Those guys are real cool and it went good."

Defensive coordinator Charlie Strong has been recruiting Dunkley for the majority of the time the Gators have been looking his way.

"Coach Strong and I email each other all the time. We normally don't talk on the phone that much but keep in touch all the time through email. Coach Strong is always joking around and stuff with me he is real cool and I like keeping in touch with him a lot."

While Dunkley has been to Gainesville numerous times his mother has yet to see the university. But if it's up to him, that will change over the summer.

"My parents have not been able to get up to Florida yet, but over the summer I am going to make sure that they get up there so they can check it out."
