From LSU fan to Gator commitment

Ian Silberman is one of the top offensive line prospects in the entire state of Florida and the Fleming Island standout is committed to the Florida Gators.

It didn't take long for Ian Silberman to end the recruiting process before it really got started. After earning a scholarship offer at Florida's Friday Night Lights camp last summer, Silberman committed right away.

"I just knew that's where I wanted to be," Silberman said. "I felt at home. They're a good program and I really liked how the coaches were."

The interesting part about that commitment is that he grew up a fan of another SEC team.

"I grew up a big LSU fan," he said. "They were my dream school actually. But when Florida came into the picture, that changed everything. LSU kept recruiting me, sent me an offer, but it didn't matter. I don't even pay attention to them anymore."

In fact, Silberman said he doesn't pay attention to anyone else anymore on the recruiting front.

"A lot of schools kept offering, came through in the spring," he said. "I'm done. I like Florida's academics. They have a good graduation rate for their players and I really like how dedicated the coaches are. I won't be taking any other visits."

Silberman had over a dozen other offers in addition to the Gators. Inside the classroom, he claims a 2.6 GPA and hasn't reported a test score yet.
