Is Trail Still Interested in Florida State?

Lynden Trail has become a national recruit since the spring ended as the Booker T. Washington standout has an offer from just about every big-time program across the country. NoleDigest caught up with the 4-star defensive end to get his thoughts on his recruitment and to see if Florida State is still a school he is looking at.

Lynden Trail's recruitment really picked up during the spring, and now Trail has become a big-time recruit considered to be one of the best at his position for this year. The lean and speedy defensive end says he is very content where his recruitment is at and that nothing new has really been going on since spring practice ended.

"Nothing really new has been going on, and I am pretty happy where my recruitment is right now," said the 4-star recruit. "Right now I am just trying to stay humble with everything. I've been getting a ton of mail and calls. As far as schools I still have Florida and Southern Cal out front."

Trail told NoleDigest that he doesn't have a top 5 at this time, but there are 2 other schools that have caught his attention so far.

"With Florida and USC I have Florida State at number 3," said Trail. "I talk to Florida a lot on the phone and I like FSU because of Coach Coley. He's from the same area in Miami that I am from, and we connect. We get on the phone and talk about more than football. We talk about family, the other sports I play and stuff like that. Coach Coley is the main reason why FSU is still in it for me."

"I also like Miami and I would put them at 4," continued Trail. "My godfather likes them a lot, and they are the hometown team. I can't keep them out. Pretty much I just have to sit down with my mother and godfather and then I will come up with a top 5."

Trail says that at one time FSU was sitting at number 2 on his list. When the NCAA ruling came down it caused him to push the Seminoles down his list. He says he's talked to Coach Coley to get clarification on what's going on with the probation.

"I like FSU because they put ends into the league," Trail said," and one time I had them at number 2 on my list. When the whole violation thing came up that pushed them down a little bit. One of my mentors, Cris Carter, was talking to me about them. I used to run track with his son Duron. He told me I needed to watch what was going on with FSU. I talked to Coach Coley and he told me that the ruling has nothing to do with me meaning they can go to bowls and all of that. I kind of think now that Coach Bowden is close with (Joe) Paterno that they just want to take his wins away from him."

Lynden says that he isn't planning any camp visits so he can rest a leg injury. Other than a visit to Florida coming up he is just going to chill out and get ready for the season. Don't look for any decision from Trail until Signing Day.

"I'm going to Florida with Quinton Dunbar, but other than that I don't have any camps planned because I want to rest my leg," said Trail. "I'm going to wait until signing day to make my decision because honestly, I am a teenager, and my mind changes all of the time on who I favor. At any minute it can change so I want to take all of my visits and go from there."

Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Trail, as well as the rest of the recruiting targets from the 2010 class.
