Easley Tripping Back to UF

In a year when Florida must recruit the defensive line strong, the gators are certainly getting their share of line prospects to look in the direction of Gainesville. One big time name doing just that is four-star defensive end Dominique Easley. Known as "Popeye" Easley will make his second paid trip to Gainesville this summer for the Gators Friday night Lights camp.

Away from his team, Dominique Easley has been working out on his own in preparation for a big senior season for Staten Island (NY) Curtis HS. He has been home all summer getting his body in shape.

"They're going great," Easley said of his workouts. "I work out every day. We stopped practicing until July and I haven't been anywhere. I am doing mostly Olympic workouts."

Easley visited Florida in the spring with family and it was enough for him to know that he wanted to see more.

"I am going back to Florida for Friday Night Lights," Easley said of the Gators' famous night camp. "I am really interested in Florida. I came with my father and my cousin before. My father thought it was amazing. He loved the way that everything was structured. When I went down there it felt so comfortable, it just felt like home.

"The coaches made me feel comfortable. I don't know what it was, it just felt good. I liked all the coaches."

A few weeks ago, Easley received a written scholarship offer from Florida. The gators evidently like what they see in the 6-3, 253 pound lineman.

"They are telling me I would play the three-technique or end," he said. "They like that I am aggressive, that I go after it, and my first step."

Easley will make the trip to Florida with his father David Easley and his mother Caren Easley. He also will be paring his school list down sometime this week.

"I'm not going to narrow it down until the end of the month, so it's everybody right now," he said about schools that he is interested in. "I don't know if I am going to take all my official visits or not."
