Silberman Looking Forward to Senior Season

Offensive tackle Ian Silberman from Orange Park (FL) Fleming Island is one of the top offensive tackles in the country. At 6-5 1/2 and 261-pounds, Silberman has as much upside as any player in the state of Florida.

"Summer workouts are going great," Ian Silberman said. "I'm getting faster and stronger and in the best shape of my life. The team is looking really good. We have a new head coach (Jeff Webb) and he has zero tolerance for missing workouts. We also have a new O-line coach (Chris Bulloch), former Jaguar and recent Tulane Hall of Fame inductee. Both coaches are putting in more of a power offense to allow us to pull a lot more.

"I have some new positions - center, defensive end, defensive tackle and of course left tackle. The strong point of our offense is our running game with Robert Boswell and Malcolm Jones behind our young, but strong offensive line. With the former defensive leader Justin Cruz graduating, our defense is getting stronger each day but still needs a leader to emerge."

Silberman is looking forward to his senior season with his coaches, friends and teammates and knows it will be a special time in his life.

"I have mixed emotions about my senior year. I have known most of these guys since junior high and it will be our last year playing football together. I will leave high school in January to become a Gator full-time. I will be back for prom and graduation, but I will miss out on some other senior events. On the flip side, I will get an early start on my future, which is a great opportunity. Our last head coach (Neal Chipoletti) instilled in us a sense of loyalty, team responsibilities and brotherhood that Coach Webb is continuing to build on. Watch out for the Fleming Island Eagles football team in the playoffs this year."
