2011 QB Familiar with the Spread

At 6-5 and 217-pounds, Quarterback C.J. Uzomah from Suwannee (GA) North Gwinnett High School could end up being one of the top signal callers from the Peach State for 2011. Uzomah made the the switch from wide receiver where he averaged more than 21 yards per catch and ended his season with five touchdown grabs.

Currently holding offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, South Florida, Indiana, Clemson and Tennessee could C.J. Uzomah end up with a Florida offer?

"With me only being a rising junior, I would say that this whole process has been somewhat of a surprise. I am very glad that coaches believe that I can help out their team from the quarterback and/or receiver. I am thankful and blessed for the opportunity, but I am also aware that I am still a Junior and have to help my team win a state championship."

Running the spread offense is something that Uzomah is well aware of and will run it at North Gwinnett.

"As far as Florida's offensive schemes, I feel as if I can relate to their offense very well. At North Gwinnett, we also run the spread. We incorporate option into our offense as well along with sprint out plays which is very similar to Florida's offense"

A time table for a possible visit to see the Gators has not been decided on at this time.

"I'm not completely sure when I'll be making a trip to Florida, however I do know that I am going to a friend's house in Florida. I will try to swing by to check out their campus and football facilities."

Uzomah talked about his strengths from the quarterback position.

"My weaknesses are my footwork in the pocket and I feel that I can be more consistent with my throws. My strengths include my ability to throw the deep ball and also my arm strength is a plus, however there is always room for improvement."
