Do the Gators have a chance with Stripling?

The nation's No. 16 ranked defensive end is T.J. Stripling. Stripling from Decatur (GA) Southwest Dekalb is 6-6 and 215-pounds and runs in the 4.6 range. There was a time that Stripling was telling people close to him that Florida was his top school.

The day before Ken Malcome went public to Georgia T.J. Stripling told me that Florida was his top school and that he and Malcome would end up at the same school. This is also what Stripling told Scout.com National Recruiting Editor Allen Wallace earlier this week.

"I'm from Georgia and I grew up on Georgia football," he said. "I love the facilities and the coaches are great. Players that go there go in and come out a lot better so they must be doing something right. They really know how to develop players."

On Florida, Stripling had this to say.

"Florida has really good history. I like how they produce good defensive ends every year and they've been really impressive on defense recently. Plus, going there you know you're gonna be winning." "Basically I want to go to an environment where I'll be able to focus on football," he said. "I want to play for coaches that know how to develop players and get them better. I want to be a great college player."

Stripling's last two visits to Florida were with Malcome and his family.

Malcome and Stripling are cousins. Both have said numerous times in the past they will play together in college.

Stripling told me two weeks ago that he would go to Friday Night Lights if Malcome was going. I could be wrong but based on everything that I know on this subject, I don't believe this one is as close as what people are making it appear. Stripling will end up at the University of Georgia.
