FNL Spotlight: Marcus Shaw

Arcadia (FL) Desoto County running back Marcus Shaw is one of the top three running backs in the state of Florida. Shaw has a great combination of speed and power. At 5-9 and 180-pounds, one would not think his game revolves around being physical but don't let his size fool you.

Marcus Shaw also plays some linebacker. He ended his junior season with more than 2,300 yards and 34 rushing touchdowns and wants to improve both those numbers his senior season.

Shaw was first team all-state in 2008, averaging more than nine yards per carry and has been to Gainesville multiple times in the past including the spring game. If there were ever a player that will be in attendance with something to prove to the entire world about how good he is or can be it will be Marcus Shaw.

He has a very good connection with Florida running backs coach Kenny Carter. As good as Shaw is on the field he is even better off the field, the kind of player that you want in your program. Shaw grew up with Texas as his top team but the main teams that have a shot at his services are Florida, Clemson, Miami, Florida State and West Virginia.

Academics will be the number one factor for Shaw and his family when making this decision. It is very hard to not pull for a kid of this caliber. If the Gators put the pressure on Shaw then this one should be over very quickly.
