FNL Spotlight: Sammy Watkins

The class of 2011 will arguably be as deep and talented at the wide receiver position as the class of 2010. One player certainly leading the way will be wideout Sammy Watkins. From Fort Myers (FL) South, Watkins is close to 6-2 and 185-pounds.

In the spring, South Ft. Myers paired up to play Immokalee. The outcome was Samuel Watkins 21 and Immokalee 0. Watkins ended the day with three catches for 153 yards with one going for 79 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 33-yard end around and later went 82 yards on an interception from is strong safety spot.

His natural position will be up for debate at the next level. One thing that's not up for debate is he will be one of the most heavily coveted players in the country for the 2011 class.

Clearly he will have offers from all of the major programs in America. Currently, Florida State and Miami and a host of others are all over Watkins. He will be a first day offer from the Gators and will enjoy a host of attention at Friday Night Lights.

Current cornerback commit Jaylen Watkins is the big brother to the 6-2 wide out.

"He finished his sophomore season with 23 catches for 527 yards and seven touchdowns on offense and on defense he had 31 tackles and two interceptions and he wants to go wherever I go," Jaylen Watkins said.

This one might not be as clear cut as Jaylen mentions because everyone in the world will be coming hard at Sammy but Florida fans must feel great about their chances.
