Perry Shows off his Speed in Gainesville

Senorise Perry, a 6-1, 186-pound athlete from Summerville (GA) Chattooga High School, will line up all over the field during his senior season but currently spends most of his time at running back and linebacker. Perry made the drive with his offensive and defensive coordinator early Friday morning to attend Friday Night Lights in Gainesville.

"The first thing we did was go find the hotel and get all checked in then we headed over to the camp around 4:30 p.m. to check in," Senorise Perry said. "I could play here one day and that is what I kept telling myself all the way home. When I walked around The Swamp before the camp started I told myself that I was going to handle my business and get this offer then have some fun. I wasn't nervous but more anxious to tell you the truth."

Word quickly spread when he ran a blistering 4.24 and 4.32 in the 40-yard sprints.

"With all my speed they were talking to me about coming in as an athlete or maybe kick return and punt return. I want to come back to Florida and that's all I keep thinking about. I have been to Mississippi State and Georgia, but I love Florida."

Perry looked very smooth for a guy with his size and speed all night.

"The coaches told me that I had great footwork and I excelled in the one on one drills all night long only getting beat one time by Jeff Luc. I let him get to close into my body and he was able to muscle me a bit but we went against each other four times and I got him the other three times we went head up."

My Take:
Perry is obviously a very gifted athlete from a measurable standpoint. At this moment, he is still starting to learn how to be a football player. If he ends up with a program that can teach him to cross over from a pure track athlete to a pure football player then look out. At this current time, with what Florida has left on the board, it would be a bit surprising if he landed a Florida offer. I would suspect that if he is patient that he might have an opportunity down the road after the staff can watch him during the course of his senior season. If he does find his way in this class, it will not be as a running back. Florida landed its No. 1 player at the running back position and will NOT recruit another running back regardless of who it is.
