"My summer was mostly just chilling and weight training and just having lots of fun with my family and teammates," Solomon Patton said. "We went to the beach, the zoo in New Orleans with my girlfriend, and only went to one camp this summer which was Friday Night Lights the best camp in the nation. I went into the summer 5-8, and I'm 5-9 now. I was 165, and now I'm 169. I really feel like I have gotten stronger and bigger but I really want to put a couple more pounds on before the season."
Patton not only wants to get better on the football field but off the field as well where he can be a role model in the community.
"I have big goals this year," he said. "I really feel like we can make something happen this year. I really feel we can make it to the championship this year. Last year we lost in the third round but I really feel like we can make it happen this year.
"Off the field I want to become more active with my community and helping kids get on the right path. A lot of kids look up to me and I really am good at helping kids become better and have better attitudes and things like that.
"I'm really going to try and make it to a couple of the games in The Swamp. I can't really figure out my official visit yet, but I really wanted to come to the Tennessee game but I have a game that day so I can't make that one. I honestly can say I'm going to the Florida versus Florida State game, but I'll be around way before that."
