Another Burton

Every Gator fan knows the name Trey Burton, but there is another Burton making a name for himself, younger but bigger brother Clay Burton. At 6-4.5 and 240-pounds, the younger Burton has a great frame coupled with good strength with a 325-pound bench press and just under 400-pound squat.

Well into double digit offers Clay Burton has a top seven that includes Clemson, South Florida, Florida State, Stanford, Purdue, Minnesota and Florida Atlantic. All seven have offered.

"I have played some tight end but have started at defensive end for the last two seasons," Burton said.

Burton talked briefly about each of his top seven teams starting with the frontrunner Clemson Tigers.

Clemson: "I took an unofficial visit with my uncle and I loved it."

South Florida: "I have been to the campus many times."

Florida State: "I went to Seminole Showcase going into my sophomore season."

Stanford: "I have never visited but the education would set up future for success."

Purdue: "It's my grandfather's alma mater."

Minnesota: "Big Ten football."

FAU: "First offer going into my sophomore season."

"I have also received mail from UCLA, Auburn, Oregon, Tennessee, West Virginia, Duke, Nebraska, Central Florida and Rutgers. I am interested in power house programs such as Florida, USC, Texas, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama but I have not heard much from them as of now."

You can check out No. 8 Clay Burton for Venice High School and older brother and current Florida Gator commitment Trey Burton on August 28 against Oscar Smith High School on ESPNU at 7:00 p.m.
