Ray Drew Drawing Attention

At 6-5 and 226-pounds with 4.7 speed, 2011 defensive end Ray Drew will be one of the top defensive ends from the Peach State. From Thomasville (GA) Thomas County Central High School Drew has offers from some of college football's powerhouse programs.

"Right now I am hearing from Alabama, Florida State, Florida and Georgia Tech the most," Ray Drew said.

Drew has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Georgia to name a few with many more on the way.

"My summer was good, very busy, I attended three camps this summer," he said. "I went to the University of Alabama camp, the 2009 Bobby Bowden FSU Camp, and the University of Florida's Friday Night Lights. Besides the sports I took a family vacation to Orlando and spent some time with the family."

Drew made significant strides over the past few months getting bigger stronger and faster.

"Entering into the 2009 summer I was 226 pounds and standing at 6-5 running a 4.72. Now I am 6-5 236 pounds running a 4.65. My strengths have jumped up some - my bench is 315, my last power clean was 315 but has more than likely gone up seeing that it was the end of the last school year that I maxed out. Same with my squat which was at 465."

Drew talked about his goals he has in place for the upcoming season.

"My goals for this upcoming season is to take it day by day and progress as time goes on. I would really like to have a few blocked punts, 40-plus tackles, 15-plus tackles for a loss and seven or more sacks. I believe the team is going to be pretty decent this year we are returning just about everyone except for 5-6 people. As far as being a leader I will do what is right and set a good example."
