Webb Comments On Decision

UFI catches up with Dee Webb and the super cover corner from Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White High School comments on his decision to commit to the Florida Gators.

The Gators secondary got a big boost today when Demetrice Webb committed to Florida. Webb, from Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White High School, is the 3rd ranked cornerback in the nation. He committed to Florida over Miami.

"The bottom line is that I just felt more comfortable at Florida," said Webb. "If I do what I have to do in the off-season and the fall then I know I can get early playing time and contribute to the team next season. Coach (Ron) Zook was also the only head coach that really won me over. So did coach (Larry) Fedora. He recruited me to UF and really sold the program to me. All the guys (recruits) are all talking Florida now and going there to win a national championship. But they have to make that decision on their own."

Webb, who is a big play guy in the secondary, grew up a die-hard Miami Hurricane. It was very difficult for him to walk away from his dream. Webb visited the 'Canes last weekend.

"Miami had always been my dream school. I mean I always wanted to play for those guys. But the reality of it is that things at Florida just clicked for me."
