Ivan McCartney is one of the most fluid wide receiver prospects in the state of Florida. Blessed with great size at 6-3 and a nice frame at 185-pounds he has all the intangibles college coaches are looking for.
Early in the recruiting process McCartney was a name for whatever reason many Florida fans were not talking about. Fast forward a couple months later and he is a hot commodity coveted by college coaches from around the nation.
McCartney said in the past he is keeping his options open. However, two stand at the top for his services with the defending national champion Florida Gators and West Virginia.
West Virginia has the luxury of signing two players from Miramar of last year's team, Stedman Bailey and Eugene Smith. The Mountaineers are seemingly all over the state of Florida with regards to recruiting and rightfully so. They also have the luxury of running an attractive offensive system.
The Florida Gators have the luxury of winning two of the past three BCS Titles. They are also the hometown team which is always an added bonus. Offensively the Gators are one of the most high powered offenses in the game today. The staff on the offensive side of the ball does a tremendous job getting its skilled players in position to make plays with the ball in their hands.
McCartney came to Friday Night Lights with Jaylen and Sammy Watkins and was very impressive in the company of some of the nation's top talent. The relationship between McCartney and the Florida staff continues to grow stronger each time they speak At the end of the day I think he will choose the Gators and play his college football in The Swamp.
Talented wide receiver prospect who caught 41 passes for 655 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.
