Clarke Eyeing the Gators

Devin Clarke is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the state of Florida from the class of 2011. From Sebring (FL), Clarke stands 5-10 and 170-pounds and has good strength for a player of his size and age with a 215-pound bench and 400-pound squat.

Last season Devin Clarke could be seen all over the field lining up at wide receiver, defensive back, kick return and punt return. He finished the season with 79 catches for more than 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. Clarke added four more touchdowns on the season coming from a variety of ways that included one kick return, two punt returns and two interceptions all for scores. Speed is his primary strength when he steps on the football field.

"My strength is my speed, ability to adjust to the ball, and my will to want it more. I still want to improve my strength, blocking, and speed can never be fast enough."

Heading into his junior season it will be more of the same as he will line up once again at wide receiver, free safety, kick return and punt return.

"I've been to camps at Florida and South Florida over the summer both being remarkable facilities but have not been on any officials because I am only a junior this year."

Three teams have extended Clarke a verbal offer at this time with Florida, South Florida and Tennessee. Clarke mentions four key factors he will use to help make this decision when the time comes.

"Offensive depth at my position, coaches, family and what I feel is right."

Clarke had a chance to participate during Florida's Friday Night Lights last month and talked a little bit about the visit and thought of playing for the Gators.

"I rode up with Coach Scott. Once inside The Swamp I had the feeling of what it must feel like to run out under these lights to a packed house and championships. I spoke to several different coaches saying the same thing work on my grades, weights and listen to your coaches. It was definitely first class and I would love to end up at such a place."

The most impressive part of the trip for Clarke was the simple fact that he has put himself in this position. Clarke left The Swamp and can't wait to take an official visit to Gainesville after a huge junior season.
