The 2010 recruiting class could go down as one of the best ever at the defensive end position. Eight defensive ends find themselves ranked among the nation's top 34 players according to Scout.com.

Jackson Jeffcoat (3), Ronald Powell (4), Chris Martin (5), Corey Lemonier (8), Reggie Wilson (15), T.J. Clemmings (23), Curtis White (25) and Jacques Smith (34) make up roughly 23 percent of the Scout.com top 34 players in America. Oregon's Owamagbe Odighizuwa checks in as the nation's No. 14 ranked defensive prospect.

My Take:
One common factor with Odighizuwa is that he seems to always mention Florida first or near the top regardless of who he is talking with. His most recent top five include Florida, California, USC, UCLA and Oregon State. He is also keeping a close eye on Oregon, Nebraska and Stanford. Stanford is thought to be the popular choice with his mother but he seems to be looking elsewhere at this time. He continues to stay in touch with the Florida staff as much as any other prospect on the board and talks very highly about head coach Urban Meyer and defensive line coach Dan McCarney. This is key because he continues to speak highly of the Gators without ever stepping foot on campus.

The thought process seems to be if he steps foot on campus which will take place during his official visit to Florida that anything is possible. As of this moment he believes he will be able to make sure that his mother accompanies him to Gainesville. They key for his mother will be the academic plan that the Gators put in place for her son. As the case with any potential prospect the key is to get them on campus and it will be no different in this situation. The plus for the Gators is the fact that he has shown great interest in the past and has yet to take a visit. It looks like the visit will take place when he makes an official visit for the Florida State game. It's hard to say any prospect has a great chance of attending any school before taking a visit but that is clearly the case with Odighizuwa. With five teams clearly in the mix for his services a safe prediction would be 20 percent but who wants to read a safe prediction? At this time I will put the Gators chances at 50 percent even with four other teams in the running.
