'Noles After Lingard

Gator commitment Howard Lingard took an official visit to Florida State last weekend. Here is what he had to say and where does the linebacker stand right now?

Florida commitment Howard Lingard took a surprise visit to Florida State this past weekend. Lingard, 6-3 and 215 pounds, committed to the Gators back in the fall.

"The visit went well," said Lingard. "Florida State has suchh a good program with great players. Cro (Thorpe) was my host and he showed me a good time. Florida knew I was going but they were not too happy about it."

Lingard is an outside linebacker from Oviedo, Florida. He has already taken his official visit to Gainesville. Where does he stand right now between the two schools?

"I am still committed to Florida. They are both two very good programs. I am taking it day to day. The way I look at it is that Florida is a young team that is rebuilding and FSU has some older players.

"I plan on riding up to Florida sometime and just driving around. My grandfather has always told me that I should always stick to my word and everyone around here is a Gator. So it looks like I am going to Florida."

The ironic thing about his recruitment is that both linebacker coaches left Florida and FSU for defensive coordinator jobs at East Carolina and Alabama respectively.
