At 5-9 and 175-pounds, Solomon Patton is off to a tremendous start this season as he has picked up right where he left off last year. Patton in an effort to keep all Gator fans up to date on how his season progresses will keep a Football Diary for FightinGators.com each week.
"My first game against Foley High School went well. We came out and jumped on them fast. They had a pretty young defense and we got the ball first and coach called an 18 sweep and I ran and got the ball from the quarterback and put my foot in the ground and my wide receivers threw some good blocks and I just took off and made one defender miss then went to the house for 85 yards to make it 7-0. We stopped them and got the ball back and on 2nd down I caught a bubble route then ran for 27 yards for another score 14-0. They really started playing and our defense was not playing good. Foley ran the ball the entire time maybe passed it a couple times but not much and they just started scoring so we went back and forth. With like four or five minutes left our other wide out caught a slant and we got up 31-29. Then they got to the 40 yard line and tried to kick a field goal and there kicker missed and I thought he was about to make it because he can really kick.
