Football Diary with Ian Silberman: 9-11-09

Four-star offensive tackle Ian Silberman from Orange Park (FL) Fleming Island is the No. 17 ranked prospect at his position. Each week Silberman and his mother Stephanie Silberman will share what goes on throughout the week on and off the field.

Ian Silberman profile

Friday we played one of our county rivals...Clay High. We won 31-21. I got my first tackle as a nose guard. We went to the Florida game on Saturday and it was good to see the freshmen on the field. Coach Addazio's first game as offensive coordinator went well but he will tell you the offense still needs a lot of work. I am taking my official visit the Florida-Florida State game weekend. Trey, Leon, Jonathan, MacFarlane and Jaylen are scheduling for that weekend too. Virtual school is going well.

At 6-6 and 280-pounds Silberman has the perfect frame for the offensive tackle position. He could easily carry another 20-pounds and moves extremely well for a man of his size. This year's recruiting class is and has been forming a special bond for some time and it will pay dividends down the road. These guys talk to each other on a weekly basis, they text each other and they email each other. When one of them can't get to a Florida camp or game one of the other recruits will come pick them up. The closeness of these recruits should not be underestimated when it comes time to either enroll early or sign the letter of intent on National Signing Day.

Silberman has been banged up with various injuries ranging from the ever painful turf toe to a sprained ankle but is working extremely hard to get back to 100%.

Scout.com Biography:

Silberman has written offers from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina State, Miami, Florida International, LSU, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Michigan, Tulane, South Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee, along with many verbal offers.
