UGA commits talk gameday experience

Some of the top recruits inside Sanford Stadium for the South Carolina game were UGA commitments. A number of them talk about the atmosphere, what recruits they hung out with, and more right here.

Here is what some of the UGA commitments had to say about their time in Athens when the Dawgs hosted South Carolina last weekend.

Brent Benedict – 6-6/290 – Jacksonville, Fla. – Bolles – Offensive Tackle

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"It was awesome and it doesn't get much better than an SEC football game, especially between the hedges in Athens."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"My favorite part was of course the win, but also that all the coaches, especially Coach Richt had time to talk with the recruits before the game."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I spent time with Watts Dantzler and Shaq Anthony mostly, but I also got to spend some time with Jalen Fields, Marcus Lattimore, and Michael Bennett too."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"I was very excited about envisioning myself in a red and black uniform. Coach Richt and Searles and my family talked about how I could help The UGA football team and that made me even more excited about watching the game."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"I am glad that I am going to be a Georgia Bulldog and I am still excited about it."


Michael Bennett – 6-3/185 – Alpharetta, Ga. – Alpharetta – Wide Receiver

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"The atmosphere could not have been any better. Georgia football is like a religion to the fans and it is awesome. Some of the fans even knew who I was and they congratulated me on being a Bulldog which was kind of cool."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"My favorite part was sitting down to eat lunch with Coach Bobo, Coach Ball, and Coach Martinez before the game. They all showed me a lot of love and they seemed excited that I was going there next year."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I hung out with my teammate Brandon Terry a lot. He is committed to Wake Forest, but he is still getting recruited by Georgia. I talked North Paulding wide receiver Christian Conley for a long time and just got to know him and tell him about Georgia since it was his first time being there for a game. I talked to Georgia commitments like Ogletree, Da' Rick Rogers, Brent Benedict, Jalen Fields, and Brandon Burrows. We all got along great. I also talked to David Andrews of Wesleyan for a while because we used to play together in seventh grade."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"Yeah I did that all night and I thought I would fit perfectly into their offense and get a chance to play early."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"It feels great to be a Bulldog. Seeing them fight off a rival like USC and watching them show determination all the way to that last play was awesome. I can't wait to get there next summer."


Brandon Burrows – 6-3/235 – Marietta, Ga. – Walton – Defensive End

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"I thought the atmosphere was intense and very up tempo. The crowd was incredibly pumped and the environment was unbelievable."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"My favorite part was being on the sideline watching the team warm up and get pumped up."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I spoke with Jalen Field, Brent Benedict, Alec Ogletree, T.J. Stripling, Da' Rick Rogers, and Dexter Morant. We all got along very well."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"I did vision myself and I just thought about how I can't wait to get there and to get to work."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"After seeing a win like that, I just can't wait to be a Georgia Bulldog."


Ken Malcome – 6-0/218 – Decatur, Ga. – Southwest Dekalb – Running Back

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"It was a great experience. Georgia has a lot of fans, people were in every seat, and people were hollering my name. That is the place I am going to be at and it was a great environment. It was loud, the atmosphere was great, and it was nice to see what it will be like for me in the future."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"The last play of the game was the best part for me. That is when we won the game, so that was the best for me. Rennie Curran knocked that pass down and it got so loud in there. Everyone was going crazy and I was too."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I hung out with Brandon Burrows and Jalen Fields the most. We talked about who we were going to room with, what we were going to do when we got there, and we had a lot of fun. I think this class is a very good one."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"I was thinking about what I could do every play that Georgia had the ball. UG will change their backs around and give everyone a chance and I think I can come in and run with some power and contribute early. I can't wait to hear the crowd cheer for me like they did when Branden Smith ran for his touchdown. It is going to be a good feeling."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"I feel very good about my commitment. I am happy and I know I made the right decision when I chose Georgia. I am a strong commitment that is ready to show what I can do."


Alec Ogletree – 6-3/215 – Newnan, Ga. – Newnan – Safety

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"It was all amazing and it was great to be around the fans, coaches, and future Bulldogs."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"My favorite part was just when I was walking around the all the people kept coming up to me saying they can't to see me out there next year ‘Tree and we need you."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I talked to Da' Rick, Michael, Ken, T.J. Jalen, and Dexter and we all got along well."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"I did and I can't wait to get out there and play."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"It feels good being a UGA commitment and I had a good time in Athens."


T.J. Stripling – 6-6/215 – Decatur, Ga. – Southwest Dekalb – Defensive End

What did you think about the atmosphere/crowd/environment?

"It was so live and it is something that I will love playing in. That is one thing I am really looking forward to when I get there next year. The crowd was so loud, they loved the team, and I was excited to be there."

What was your favorite part of the game/visit?

"I would have to say the love I got from the time I got there to when I left. The fans, the coaches, more fans, and everyone was telling me it was nice to see me, thanks for choosing Georgia, and all that. The coaches were happy to see me too, so I would have to say the love."

What recruits did you hang out with and how did you guys get along?

"I spent a lot of time with Jalen when I was at the game and we talked about how we are going to do big things when we get there. Nothing against the ends there now, but we both think we can help right away. Our class is going to be awesome and we are ready to get there."

Did you vision yourself playing for UGA during the game?

"I definitely saw myself playing when I was watching the game. I saw myself in that red jersey and Georgia helmet and I can't wait to play in that uniform and give it my all every play."

After watching that game live as a UGA commit, how does it feel to be a future Bulldog?

"It feels great to be a part of this class. I see Georgia being great in the future and I am focused on winning a championship when I get there. I think we have some real talent in this class, Georgia has a lot of young talent on the team now, and I just can't wait to get there and play."
