Easley on Recruiting

At one time it appeared that defensive lineman Dominique Easley would be a part of the Gators' 2010 recruiting class but then opted for Joe Paterno and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The 6-3 and 270-pound Easley from Staten Island (NY) Curtis High School talked about his season and the recruiting process.

"I have seven sacks, 32 tackles, one interception for a touchdown and four forced fumbles," Dominique Easley said.

Easley of all people knows how quickly things can change in the world of recruiting but has enjoyed the process.

"I knew it was going to be hectic and it has been fun. The hardest part was picking the school. All I can really say to anyone that goes through this process is to take your time."

My Take:

Dominique Easley certainly came to Friday Night Lights with the hopes of becoming a Gator. He had talked to several people close to the situation including myself and let his intentions be known. He was right on the cusp of being in this year's class but at the end of the day with some other players still left on the defensive line board the staff opted at that time to turn in another direction. At times the recruiting process comes full circle on certain players unfortunately I don't believe that to be the case with Dominique Easley. He is a great kid and a better person and I wish him the best of luck at Penn State.
