LB Talks About Decision

The recruiting process had gotten completely out of hand for linebacker Earl Everett and that is one of the reason he couldn't wait until Signing Day to announce his decision.

Florida landed a huge verbal commitment on Tuesday when linebacker Earl Everett committed to Florida. Everett, from Bushnell (Fla.) South Sumter High School, is a five-star linebacker and one of the nation's top prospects. He committed to Florida over Miami.

"That's who it came down to and it was real tough on me," said Everett. "The bottom line is that Florida is just the best place for me. The University of Florida is close to home and that's important to me. Coach Charlie Strong was a big difference too. I know, with some hard work, I can come in and compete for playing time next season as a freshman.

"I wanted to wait until Signing Day to make the announcement but the recruiting process has just gotten completely out of hand. I have been getting calls from the media and coaches at all hours. People have actually called at three and four in the morning when I am sleeping.

"When I got back from Miami, I knew I wanted to go to Florida and I had to end this thing."

Everett was scheduled to visit Florida State this weekend but he has cancelled that visit. Now he wants to get back to some kind of normalcy and play some basketball for his high school team. He plays shooting guard and averages 10 points and 8 rebounds.
