Clay Burton Playing Big

Venice High School superstar Trey Burton has been the player receiving most of the attention and all the accolades over the last several seasons. Younger brother Clay Burton is now starting to assert himself as a force to be reckoned with.

A 6-4, 235-pound defensive end with a 325-pound bench and 400-pound squat, Clay Burton has 8.5 sacks, 30 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles for the Venice defense to help them to a 4-1 record and four wins in a row.

Burton is sitting on three written offers.

"Clemson, Stanford and FIU," Burton said after a recent trip to Auburn.

Burton was in Gainesville as the Gators hosted Tennessee and visited Auburn this past weekend as they hosted Ball State.

Florida/Tennessee:
"The atmosphere was electric and it was a packed crowd."

Ball State/Auburn: "Loved the school and campus. I went with teammate Dino Fanti and talked to the auburn coaches we had a great time."

USF/Wofford:
"Once again went with Dino Fanti and talked to coaches and had a good time."

Every time Trey Burton heads to Gainesville Clay is not far behind.

"I go up with my brother and I make sure I talk to Carlos Dunlap and say hey and I also talk to Coach Meyer and Coach McCarney. The Gators are at the top of my list."
