Luc Dispells the Rumors

The nation's No. 1 ranked middle linebacker checks in at 6-1 and 240-pounds and is from Port Saint Lucie (FL) Treasure Coast High School. Luc can take his pick of college choices with offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern Miss, Tennessee, USC and Oklahoma.

With speculation swirling regarding his recent trip to Knoxville I caught up with the five-star linebacker to see if the rumors were true. Is he indeed leaning to or close to a decision to play for the Tennessee Volunteers?

Jeff Luc was quick to dispense any and all rumors regarding if he was close to a Tennessee commitment.

"No it's not," he said.

Luc understands the recruiting process and knows that it's going to get worse. He went on to say hopefully he will enroll early. Don't be surprised if Luc makes a visit out to USC possible soon. So much comes out of Knoxville it's hard to know what to believe and what not to believe. The ability to see immediate playing time is attractive to those who want to get on the field early. Luc clearly understands that he would have the exact same opportunity for early playing time with the Gators and has a special bond with defensive coordinator Charlie Strong. This one will be as interesting as any down the stretch.

Scout.Com Take:
Luc is like a freak of nature on the high school level. He has size of an NFL linebacker and he plays on another level. He can over pursue the ball at times or jump the play every now and then, but he is the elite of the elite. He hits with force, he drives his body through the offensive player, he moves down hill in a hurry, he is a sure tackler, and he moves in space better than many would expect. Luc is ready for college now. - Chad Simmons
