Elam Excited to be a Gator

Matt Elam is one of two five-star players currently committed to the University of Florida. The other is running back Mack Brown from Lithonia (GA) MLK High School. Elam, the nation's No. 1 ranked safety and No. 10 overall, spoke about his future home.

"The defense is playing great but it will be interesting to see how they do without their stud linebacker."

Matt Elam does believe the Gators will run the table and make it three out of four BCS Titles.

"They will play Texas in the national championship game," Elam said.

Most are curious to know when Matt Elam decided he wanted to be a Gator but for Elam the answer is a simple one.

"When I got the offer."

Elam has helped lead his team to a 5-1 record in large part to his play on both sides of the ball.

"We are 5-1 and I have 46 carries for 544 yards, six touchdowns, 18 tackles, eight for loss and two sacks."

Elam will enroll early and said the advice he would give to players about to go through the recruiting process is simple.

"Be patient and make a wise decision."

Elam has had a long relationship with head Coach Urban Meyer and when asked to best portray the connection Elam described it in three words.

"Like a father."
