Catching Up With Errict Rhett

When people talk about the great running backs in Gator football history the conversation usually starts with Emmitt Smith and moved on to Neal Anderson and Fred Taylor before getting around to the guy who actually holds the UF career rushing yardage record.

Errict Rhett was Florida's top back for the first four years (1990-93) of the Steve Spurrier and helped put Florida Football on top of the SEC with three conference titles in those four seasons.

Rhett finished his Gator career with 4,163 rushing yards and another 1,230 receiving. He's the only non-quarterback in Gator history to top 5,000 yards of total offense. H's also the only Gator runner to lead the team in rushing four times.

This weekend Rhett returns to the scene of one of his greatest performances. In 1993 Rhett carried the ball 41 times for 183 yards on a muddy Saturday afternoon helping the Gators to a 33-26 win.

Earlier this week I had E-Rhett on my Gainesville radio show to talk about his Florida/Georgia memories, what he's doing with his Foundation in South Florida and a raffle he's putting on to support those programs. I hope you enjoy it.
