Spikes to Serve Suspension Against Vandy

Senior linebacker Brandon Spikes will watch the first half of the Vanderbilt game on Saturday night from the sidelines, according to Florida head coach Urban Meyer. Spikes was caught on tape trying to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey during the second half of Saturday's game in Jacksonville.

"I don't condone that," Urban Meyer said. "I understand what happens in football, but I don't condone that. We're going to suspend Brandon in the first half of the Vanderbilt game. I spoke with him. That's not who he is. It's not who we are. He got caught up in the emotion. I love Brandon Spikes; our team does. We're going to move on, but he has our full support."

According to Spikes, he was retaliating for a similar incident that occurred earlier in the game.

Spikes missed the Arkansas and Mississippi State games prior to last weekend's matchup with Georgia. He left the LSU game early three weeks ago with a groin injury.

Spikes recorded a game-high 10 tackles on Saturday.
