Shaw Makes Cross-Country Trip to Florida

The nation's No. 13 ranked cornerback prospect is 6-1 and 180-pound Josh Shaw. Shaw is from Palmdale (CA) and has one of the most impressive offer lists you will find. He holds offers from powerhouse programs such as Florida, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, LSU and others such as Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan and UCLA.

"It was great," Joshua Shaw said of his trip to Gainesville this weekend. "It helped seeing things that I was not able to see the first time around like the dorms, city and all of the campus."

On Saturday the Shaw family was able to check out various parts of the surrounding Gainesville area.

"It was a great trip." Venus Shaw said (Josh's mother) "It was great weather and reminded us a lot of the weather in Palmdale. It reminded me a lot like home."

Shaw also had a chance to hang out with two of the current Florida corners in Janoris Jenkins and Joe Haden.

"I was able to met those guys and spent a whole bunch of time with Joe Haden and his entire family actually. I had a chance to hang out with Jordan as well they are a real cool family."

On the time spent with head coach Urban Meyer and the rest of the Florida staff.

"We are pretty close already so we have that bond going and now we are just trying to grow the relationship and see what happens."

Shaw is a big and physical type of corner. He is fearless when the ball is in the air and has a great understanding of what the receiver is trying to do with his time spent playing the position. He is very fluid and has great change of direction that allows him to stay with the smaller type of receivers and has great size and tackling ability that allows him to play great run support. Shaw is one of the most complete cornerback prospects you will find and his offer list is the proof.

Joshua Shaw finished his junior season with 27 receptions for 443 yards. He also had five carries for 133 yards. He totaled 10 touchdowns.

Defensively, he had 40 solo tackles, six tackles for loss and four interceptions. Earned First Team All-CIF Southern Section, All-Golden League, First Team All-Los Angeles County. He reports a 330 bench press, 405 squat and 36" vertical jump.
