The 6-0 and 180-pounder from Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Dillard is at it again. Dillard is 3-6 on the season and will miss the playoffs but the last three games Wayne Lyons has more than 20 tackles, five for a loss and numerous pass breakups. Lyons will end his junior season this Friday as they take on Miramar and has plenty he wants to improve on moving forward.
"I want to work on my coverage skills. I'm making monster plays against the run but can be much better in coverage. I will be attending several defensive back camps this off season to improve. I have been invited to attend the Army All-American National Combine in San Antonio in January and will attend."
Plenty of teams are showing Lyons interest at this time.
"Written offers are Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee, West Virginia, Duke and Vanderbilt. Verbal offers are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Northwestern, Western Michigan, Toledo and Pitt."
Lyons has visited Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and Stanford and spoke about each of those programs:
Florida – "Had a chance to meet with Coach Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff. I toured the football facilities and met several players; toured the campus and met with the academic adviser. I had an unofficial during the summer in which I attended a one-day camp and returned for the Tennessee game. Atmosphere was extremely loud and lively.
Miami - Met Coach Shannon and my recruiter, Jeff Stoutland. Received a tour of the campus, athletic facilities and met with an academic adviser while on an unofficial during the summer. I also attended a one-day camp and attended the Oklahoma game.
Notre Dame - Met with Coach Weiss and the rest of the coaching staff. Had a chance to tour the football facilities and the campus. Met several players that shared ND traditions throughout the school. Attended a three-day camp in which I performed very well at both the safety position and receiver position.
Stanford - Met with Coach Harbaugh and the entire coaching staff. I got a chance to attend team meetings and practices. I had a one-on-one meeting with Coach White, DB coach who should me how they would use me in their schemes. I met several faculty members and attended the Washington game. I also had a chance to attend a class where the students build a jet engine, that was really cool. I got a chance to hang out with several players as well.
