Adrian Coxson has kept in touch with the Florida coaches for some time and will finally get a chance to further the relationship in person this weekend as he is taking an official visit to Gainesville with his father. One of the most physically mature wide receivers in America, Coxson is a big and powerful playmaker that can hurt defenses in a number of ways. With his size he can easily get off man coverage and does a great job of using his body when the ball is in the air.
The Gators currently have two wide receivers committed at this time with Solomon Patton and Quinton Dunbar. Coxson will be one of three five-star wide receivers taking official visits to Gainesville this weekend. The other two are Christian Green and Kenny Stills. Five-star Chris Dunkley will also be in Gainesville this weekend as will Solomon Patton Ivan McCartney and appears Quinton Dunbar could make it in.
Coxson has been a verbal for Penn State for some time now but the possibility is there for him to end up elsewhere. He has talked about taking three official visits moving forward. Florida, Georgia and Penn State.
Coxson has a good relationship with Urban Meyer, Bill Gonzales and Coach White. In his own words this is what Coxson had to say about being a great wide receiver.
"To make a great wide receiver you must be physical and be able to run good routes. A great wide receiver is one who can read coverages and defenses before the play starts and while the play is going on. Big time players make big time plays."
If Adrian Coxson ends up at Florida this weekend's visit will be the reason. This is a very important trip for him and it will need to go perfectly if the Gators hope to have a shot in the end. Coxson has offers from Florida, Georgia, Penn State, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh to name a few.
Scout.Com Take Bob Lichtenfels:
Coxson is not a track guy, but he has game speed and seems to get faster when being chased. He is elusive in the open field and excels in the return game. He uses his body to shield the ball from defenders. Very strong player easily beats jams at the line. Has incredible hand strength. When he goes into the air to get the ball he usually comes down with it. Very competitive player with some swagger about him.
