Elam Wraps Up Official Visit

The state of Florida year in and year out is one of the top producing states for high school football talent. This year the state's top player is safety prospect Matt Elam who is also the No. 1 safety in America according to Scout.com.

From Palm Beach Gardens (FL) William T. Dwyer High School, Matt Elam talked about his official visit to Gainesville this weekend.

"It was real nice and I had a real nice time," the 6-0, 205-pound Elam said.

With speculation around every corner, last week Elam said he was 100 percent done with the recruiting process and was a Florida Gator and today he reiterated those feelings.

"I am just glad the recruiting process is over for me."

Elam enjoyed everything about his visit but two things stood out to the five-star prospect.

"Spending more time with the coaches and getting to know those guys better was real important for me and getting in the locker room was real cool. That was probably my favorite part of the trip being in the locker room."

Elam was hosted by freshman linebacker Jon Bostic.

"Bostic and I had a great time kicking it and just hanging out. It was Bostic, Xavier Nixon and Morgan Moses. We were all together most of the time. Morgan liked Florida a lot but he has some thinking to do."

Elam was spectacular in the state semi-final game on Friday night.

"I had 23 carries for 166 yards and two rushing touchdowns. I also had one interception that went the distance."
