UA Stock Report - Day One

If you are fortunate enough to take in practices this week in Orlando you will be hard pressed to not run into potential Florida Gators. Prospects in Orange and Blue are everywhere you turn representing four states in Florida, Georgia, California and Alabama.

Joshua Shaw is a very big corner and is much more physical than he is quick. He excels in press coverage and wins one-on-one battles if he gets his hands on the receiver. At the same time when smaller quicker wide receivers get off the bump they had some success. Southeast Recruiting Manager Chad Simmons on Cody Riggs performance today...

"He was the most natural corner on team white. He looked the most comfortable and showed good ball skills and was the best corner on his team. I think the biggest thing he needs to work on is getting bigger and stronger."

Florida Recruiting Analyst Geoff Vogt thinks Jonathan Dowling ends up on the offensive side of the ball.

"I like his size and his length and has excellent hands and lack of top end speed will not be a factor at wide receiver."

Leon Orr did not participate in today's practice. Chris Dunkley ran roughly three to four routes before he tweaked his hamstring and had an ice wrap the rest of the day.

Solomon Patton looked very good getting in and out of his routes but had a couple of drops today. I will be interested in seeing the competitiveness Patton has and how he performs on Thursday.

Ian Silberman showed great tenacity today as well as quickness and the sky is the limit for the future offensive tackle.

One of the stories of the day in my opinion was the physical play of Demar Dorsey. He did get turned around once or twice but lowered the boom today a few times.

The running backs did not get as many opportunities as the wide receivers today. Storm Johnson and Mack Brown will get touches as the week progresses.

Jonathan Dowling looks the part moves great and is a ball hawk type of safety. Unfortunately, Dowling did not get many chances today. He was playing more of a free safety role and was at times very deep and not a lot of action came across the middle. I am interested to see how he breaks on the ball when give the chance as the progresses.
