However, Solomon Patton who is with Mack Brown, jr. in St. Petersburg just told me that the running back from MLK high school has informed him that he will indeed visit both Tennessee and Florida State moving forward. It is very clear that either this is all false information or Mr. Brown and his son are not on the same page regarding these issues. One thing is perfectly clear where there is smoke there is fire and there is a TON of smoke going on right now. The common denominator in this equation is Eddie Gran. Coach Gran was recruiting not only Mack Brown but Chris Dunkley as well. Both Dunkley and Brown have talked this week about the recruiting process. What went on between the two I can't comment on at this time. However, Mack has told other players he is with that he is solid to Florida. Another thing to remember is Dunkley's mother 100% wants her son at the University of Florida. She has a ton to do with the recruiting process and how this will play out. I know that everyone in the world says there is not a chance Chris Dunkley will go to Florida State. The Florida State coaching staff indeed believes it's an uphill battle with Chris Dunkley but thinks they are the team to beat for Mack Brown, junior. Even with all the Florida State banter at this time about Chris Dunkley I will say I will be shocked if he does not end up a Gator. Chris Dunkley will be a Florida Gator. Regardless of what has gone on tonight I will be shocked if Mack Brown ends up anywhere other than Gainesville.
Demar Dorsey has gone on record as saying that he will not go to Florida if cornerback Coach Vance Bedford leaves the university. Cody Riggs has said that it will impact him and could open the door for other schools such as Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. With regards to the Vance Bedford coaching situation
It is very clear the moment Urban Meyer's health became a concern things could become shaky at best regarding certain recruits. Matt Elam was the first victim of this as he decided earlier today to declare for Florida State. If Coach Bedford leaves Cody Riggs could end up at Georgia and Demar Dorsey could wind up at Tennessee. There is no way to know the full extent of the Urban Meyer situation until National Signing Day comes and goes. The focus for the staff this week has been the Sugar Bowl. As soon as this game is over the staff will turn its attention to the recruiting process.
At the same time there are three recruits at this game that have been in contact with the Florida coaching staff. At this time it is unclear how responsive those three are to what the staff is telling them. I think the staff has a chance to land two of the three as of right now. Again, we will need to see how things progress once the Sugar Bowl is concluded. One of the three has been in contact with the staff for a long time. The other two have not remained in contact with the Gator coaching staff for some time now. I have also talked to other prospects at this game that have told me they feel Jordan Hicks will become a Gator. I don't believe he was ever going to enroll early and expect him to announce on National Signing Day.
