Powell Picks Gators

Five-star defensive end Ronald Powell has decided to become a Florida Gator. The nation's No. 4 overall ranked player stands 6-4 and 250-pounds. From Moreno Valley (CA) Rancho Verde High School, he is been one of if not the most impressive players in San Antonio.

A rare blend of size, speed and power he is a true impact type of a player and will be in the rotation the moment he steps foot on campus.

Ronald Powell has always stated to other recruiting prospects that he wants to be a part of the best recruiting class in history. Powell has certainly done his job with regards to the recruiting process as he actively recruited cornerback Joshua Shaw and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd to join him as they start the new tradition in Florida football.

This year's outgoing senior class has set the bar high but this group of incoming freshmen has loads of potential and the desire to set its own mark on Florida football.

Scout.com Take:
A long, lean athlete, Powell has college ready size for a weak side defensive end, and he has the frame to continue adding on good weight for several more years. He has an easy stride and a quick burst off the line. His speed rush is too fast for all but the best of offensive tackles, and no one is going to shut him down for an entire game. Powell spent much of his sr. year at middle linebacker, but he's a more natural edge player, Scott Kennedy
