Brown is Pretty Firm to UF

The University of Florida has made a huge recruiting run in the last two weeks, but lest we forget the base that this 2010 recruiting class has been built on. One of the premier parts of this class is running back Mack Brown of Lithonia, GA. Brown is that big time running back Urban Meyer and company have always wanted to land. Brown says he is pretty solid to the Gators.

Mack Brown got to meet new running back coach Stan Drayton last week. Drayton's first order of business was to meet Brown and make sure he was still on track as far as staying a Gator. It had to be a pretty traumatic couple of weeks or so for brown when Urban Meyer resigned and then came back and a little over a week later his position coach and recruiting coach at Florida, Kenny Carter decided to leave for Louisville.

Brown got his his first look at Drayton and a couple of other staffers in attendance.

"They were here a couple of days ago," Brown said Friday. "It was Coach Drayton, Coach Addazio and Coach McCarney."

"Coach Drayton seemed pretty good. I met him earlier at school that day and then came to my house that night. They just told me what they are going to do on offense. They said they will run a two running back system in the offense and I would be a big part of it."

The staff understands the position Brown is in and wanted to make sure where he stands with his commitment.

"They asked me about it and I said I was just taking it all in right now," Brown said. "I am taking my trip to the University of Florida next weekend and will talk about it some more."

In the meantime, three schools have stepped up their recruitment of Brown. Clemson, Florida State, and Tennessee, have been calling non-stop and trying to get in on the speedster from the Peach State.

"Tennessee they are saying the same as always, they need another big running back next year," Brown said. "They have a good running back in Bryce Brown and they need me as a home run hitter."

"Florida State said I can come in and start immediately."

"I haven't really talked to Clemson too much like that."

Brown knows how he feels at the moment.

"I am pretty firm right now to Florida," he said. "I'm all committed to the University of Florida."

Will there be any other official visits on the horizon for Brown?

"Not at this moment, no sir," he said.

With the Gators getting commitments from five of the very best players in America in the last 10 days, it could be easy to ride that swell of emotion and let it ease any worry one might have with all the coaching changes and other things at Florida. In the end, none of that has mattered to Brown.

When asked Sunday about having a top class like that and if it had any effect on his recruiting, Brown had a simple answer. "No, not really," he said. "Because I love Coach Meyer."
