Vaughters Focusing on Recruiting

James Vaughters from Tucker (GA) is one of Peach State's best for 2011. Vaughters, a 6-3, 220-pound middle linebacker is already ranked as a four-star player according to Vaughters' father, Jonathan Vaughters, gave an update on the recruiting process.

"James mentioned to me that coach Durkin stopped by the school yesterday and he had a chance to talk with him," Jonathan Vaughters said. "Coach Durkin and James have spoken before when coach Durkin was recruiting on behalf of Stanford. It has been a busy last couple of weeks at the school, with coaches stopping by constantly, to speak with James and a couple other recruits that look like they will be BCS-caliber recruits like Chris Sanders, Justin Garrett, and Bashr Coles.

"Just today, coach Richt was at the high school, as was coach Harbaugh from Stanford. Yesterday, in addition to coach Durkin, coaches were at the school from Georgia Tech, Virginia, UCF, and a couple of others. We are expecting to see coach Tressel of Ohio State either later this week or the early part of next week."

With the focus turning to the prospects of the 2011 recruiting class Vaughters and his son are trying to schedule future trips.

"This is, obviously, the time of the year for the coaches to really focus, for the first time, solely, on the 2011 class. We are trying to plan out the junior days schedule for the next month or so, and James is trying to sort out the junior day visits among Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Texas, and he will be going to Stanford's junior day later in February."

Vaughters also talked about the coaching changes with the Trojans.

"I'm not quite sure where he is coming out on the whole Southern Cal transition, but he recently met with coach Kiffen and coach Orgeron when they were still representing Tennessee and thinks highly of the coaches and James has always thought highly of Southern Cal's academics, independent of how highly he regards coach Carroll."

James Vaughters will be one of the most heavily recruited players in America for the class of 2011 and stay tuned to for all the latest with the four-star linebacker from Tucker High School.
