At 6-4 and 250-pounds Ronald Powell from Moreno Valley (CA) Rancho Verde is one of the most dominating players in the country. Powell joins cornerback Joshua Shaw as future Gator teammates as Shaw checks in at No. 10 in the state of California. Powell was making his fourth overall trip to Gainesville but this time it was his official visit.
"It was cool and real fun," Powell said. "As soon as I got off the plane I went and hung out with Andre Debose. We got ready for the night and stuff like that, Josh Shaw was my host."
Powell has been one of the most heavily recruited players regardless of position or state. It has been an intense battle between the University of Florida and USC. In the end Powell went with what was in his heart.
"It's just like home for me. Friday night we went and hung out with coach Meyer and had dinner at his house and stuff like that. After that we just chilled and hung out and stuff like that.
"Saturday was real cool at the basketball game but overall it was like home hanging out with everyone again."
Powell did have a message for the Gator Nation.
"The whole thing was real cool for me. This class is coming in and we are playing to win and playing to win championships, period."
