Clay Burton Takes in Gainesville, Again

At 6-4 and 235-pounds, defensive end Clay Burton has been to Gainesville 10-plus, times but that didn't mean he wasn't impressed with what he saw at Florida's first junior day. Burton has offers from Clemson, Stanford, Purdue, Rutgers and FIU at the moment with more on the way.

"I went with my mom and teammate Omari Phillips (2012 OT/DT) and stayed with my brother which was real fun," Clay Burton said. "It was the first junior day I have been too but I have been up there 10-plus times. I was really impressed with the academic standards and how real the coaching staff was because the football prestige speaks for itself."

Burton had a chance to spend time with coaches Steve Addazio and Dan McCarney.

"I spoke with coach Addazio a little bit because he recruits my area and he said he will be down in the spring to recruit me. The whole defensive line met with coach McCarney and he said it was an impressive group and how he wants me to come up to camp during the summer."

Burton talked about the overall vibe this past weekend.

"Everyone seemed pretty friendly and I recognized and spoke with a couple kids I have played against, but for the most part everyone respected each other's talent level because we knew it was a great group."
